The Gear

Not long to go now. A few more things to book for the return trip and I’m all set.

Buuutt, I’m really excited about the new gear I’ve got to chase the fish in Iceland. Have a look at this loot!

The folks at Hookup Bait and Tackle in Ferntree Gully looked after me with a new rod and reel for the Iceland trip. I decided on the Scott Radian rod in a 7-weight, coupled with a Lamson Guru 3 reel, Scientific Anglers Mastery wf7 floating line, and a spare spool with AirFlo Sixth Sense Sink 5 line also in 7 weight.

I love the balance of the rod and reel, and the little features that come with a handcrafted rod. Such as the hand written script on the rod, the alignment dots on the sections, the un-sanded finish on the rod and the self indexing reelseat.

This outfit has enough grunt to stop the biggest salmon and sea-run brown trout in the Icelandic rivers.
